A quick service restaurant based in Kolkata, Fatafathi Kathi specialises in a wide range of delicious kathi rolls from all time favourites to experimental new recipes.

We wanted to highlight the brand‘s Kolkata connect in the identity. So we drew from inspirations like comic illustrations, vernacular typography and the bright yellow of the famous Kolkata taxi to build a brand that catches your eye!

Naming
Fatafati means excellent in Bengali, and Fatafat means quick in Hindi. This name embodied the two most important values of the brand. Based on this, we named the QSR Fatafati Kathi.

Logo
Kathi means stick, and a Kathi Roll originated from meat that was grilled on skewers and wrapped in a flaky bread or paratha. To keep in focus the origin of the brand name, and the original dish we used the skewer icon between the 2 I’s of Fatafati Kathi

Packaging

An illustration of a girl with a kathi roll rocket was used to convey super quick service and delivery.
The rectangular box comes is designed to keep the roll warm and snug and a holder is provided to avoid messy eating.
Each panel of the box comes with a little surprise for you to discover as you munch on your roll – A brief history of kathi rolls, or a quick how to most optimally eat your kathi.

Space Graphics

Like the packaging, the space graphics comprise simple bi-colour illustrations drawing from easily identifiable Calcuttan motifs like the Howrah Bridge, the yellow cab., the hand-pulled rickshaw, the insatiable love for football and so on - each, of course, with an added kathi-roll-twist!
